White Sands Relays Set For High School Track Event
The first annual White Sands Relays open to New Mexico high school teams will be held April 9 at the White Sands National Monument in a joint Play Day program. Alamogordo will award the Tom Charles Memorial Trophy to the winners, with prelims at 10 a.m. and main events from 2 p.m. Events include sprints, distance races, relays, and field events with teams from Alamogordo Tularosa Hobbs Carlsbad Silver City Hurley Deming Hatch Hot Springs and Las Cruces among entrants.

The New Mexico School for the Blind advances a $400000 plan for a two story administration and modern classroom building and a new superintendent’s home in Santa Fe. W C Kruger Company architects prepared bids while James A Clifford says $215000 to $225000 in bonds will supplement the funds from the permanent fund. The cross shaped main building will include eight classrooms a music room a library and sight saving spaces. The new superintendent’s home will be brick two story with three bedrooms and two baths. The school will lack the facilities for a full school year during construction.

Fire destroys Mattress Works on Pennsylvania Avenue

Ala mogordo annexation expands town by around two hundred acres
The Town Board approved an annexation increasing the town area by about 200 acres based on a petition from property owners including George Abbott and the Alamogordo Improvement Co. The boundary follows a logging road north of the Prestridge Mill and west of the railroad, with half of College Addition untouched. The move enables a new subdivision east of the School for the Blind and north of 16th Street. New water lines were ordered for the proposed residences, including 2200 feet of 7 inch pipe at 2.10 per foot, 1800 feet of 4 inch at 1.00, and 4200 feet of 3 1 2 inch at .625, mostly surplus from Marfa air field. delivery planned this week.
