Charred Death in Hallway Reveals Fire Tragedy at Boarding House
Fire swept the Frank Wertane boarding house on Pennsylvania Avenue at 4:30 am. W G Higginbotham died in the hallway after a heroic effort to rescue others as flames consumed the building. Coroner’s jury ruled death by contact with live electric wire. The 37 year old blacksmith from Fannin County Texas left behind belongings and was buried locally.
