Our Weed correspondent reports the death of Mrs. Mary Jane Watts known as Aunt Jane at age 80 after double pneumonia contracted during a visit to May Hill to see granddaughter Mrs. Lloyd Curtis. Her funeral, led by Rev. Clyde Coffman, was held at a small cemetery northeast of Weed beside her husband and four prior children. She leaves five children and numerous relatives, with community sorrow noted.
Five thousand rainbow trout from Lisbon Springs hatchery on Pecos River were brought to the Tularosa river and planted Wednesday. Arthur Graham of the State Game and Fish Department said the fish, five to eight inches long, are expected to replenish the stream, which was fished out years ago and closed to fishing. Officials do not plan to reopen the stream soon.
At a Rotary Club luncheon in Alamogordo officials discuss possible night curfews to curb burglaries. Marshal James Allan and Night Watchman Emmett Grege push for the ordinance, while present town rules limit officers from removing loiterers. Citizens' opinions are sought by town officials.
Town officials report the presence of wrecks parked on streets due to owners inability to pay current licenses. The unused autos obstruct traffic and create an undesirable scene. owners are warned to remove them or face removal in due course of law.
The Amonett Roswell team won Capitan tournament last weekend with nine teams. Amonett defeated Tularosa in the semi finals and Corona in the final to win the title. Corona placed three players on the all tournament team: J Clements F, F DuBois F, W Clements C, Bond Roswell G, and Baird Tularosa G.
Edgar C. McMechem and a Denver party toured White Sands on Sunday to prepare a Travel Magazine story. McMechem directs publicity for The Colorado Association, formed to develop Colorado. Roger Toll, Yellowstone director, arranged the Alamogordo visit, noting the sands' story potential.
Mr. Tom Charles writes to J. P. Bruce at the Mills building El Paso offering to co operate with him in advertising the White Sands. Bruce plans to take pictures of the Sands and Charles proposes novel images including ears nose diving from high sand dunes to accompany Fox company pictures.
Five or six men in Carlsbad plan to film the Cavern and other New Mexico wonders. Tom Charles will contact them to promote the White Sands display and push public interest in moving pictures.
Mr. Arthur Wagner of 581 So Sherman St Denver an automobile mechanic seeks to settle in or near Tularosa New Mexico and has written for information about the move.
Geneva Duderstadt of Texan Texas writes for information on homestead rights and requests a map of the local section as part of an Uncle Sam gifts program.
Mrs. Hallett Raynolds of El Paso requests the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce contact Tularosa to help recover her daughter's luggage lost several weeks ago. R T Spence cashier of Otero State Bank wrote the note on behalf of Tularosa.
Dr Fred A Bell of Dallas plans a motor trip from Roswell to Alamogordo and requests complete information on the roads in the Alamogordo area.
W. S. Cathey, cashier, urges establishing a bank here but the Chamber of Commerce discourages it, claiming the town already has one of the finest banks in the area.
Roswell reports 600000 pounds of mohair stored in Bond-Baker warehouses sold to Draper & Co. of Boston at 22 1/2 cents per pound for kid hair and 22 cents for adult hair. Otero county growers, including Pinon-Avis producers, benefit though prices are weak. The spring clip starts as quality remains strong and stockists look to catch up.
Alamogordo residents Andrew Sorenson Frank McCullough W M Todd and Richard Wilford traveled to Roswell for the Grand Lodge of the A F and A M gathering starting Monday March 20. they returned Wednesday via Artesia and Cloudcroft. The visit featured a banquet hosted by the Roswell Woman's Club and a tour of the New Mexico Military Institute.
A note from the state expresses gratitude to the person who called in the Alamogordo address of C. A. Musgrave. The message praises cooperative assistance and the aim to answer every inquiry possible.

Supervisor Arthur attended the Tucumcari gathering for the New Mexico Cattle and Horse Growers Association annual convention. A Fire Camp will be held at the Weed Lookout Tower March 23 to 25 to train fire guards and officers in forest fire prevention and suppression with Mescalero Service personnel extra attendance. Jack Webber, famed southwest restaurateur, is at Pine Lodge Roswell Summer Lodge Hotel, following past Alamogordo ventures and recent Arizona residence.
Snow Sunday night and Monday forenoon relieved a high fire hazard caused by three months of precipitation deficit in the Lincoln Forest area.
Jesse Rowley an administrative guard from Saf ford Arizona arrived Tuesday to serve as assistant to Ranger Janey at the High Rolls station for the upcoming fire season. Laney holds an important fire district role.
The Secretary of Agriculture confirms 1933 grazing fees at 14 ⅓ cents per head monthly for cattle and horses and 4 cents for sheep and goats. Rates align with private land forage values and will apply to the first two payments in 1933. A study will assess linking fees to livestock market value for the second half of 1933 and for 1934.

Organization of a junior golf club for school boys under Alamogordo Golf Club sponsorship was completed Tuesday night. Twenty members enrolled. officers named Harvey Robertson permanent chairman Joe Darden secretary treasurer Bruce Garrett Billie Lafferty Richard Simms Ned Wilford directors. A follow up meeting is planned Monday to set future activities.
Jesse F Green aged 76 died at his home on Michigan Avenue after a week long illness. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Alamogordo with Rev Earl R Keating officiating and interment in the local cemetery. Born October 12 1856 in Union Parish Louisiana he moved to Texas and later to New Mexico with his wife Fannie Westmoreland in 1885. Survived by eight children two daughters two sons two sisters and many relatives. He joined Bethel Baptist Church at 14 and was known for his kind neighborly spirit.
The Southwestern Division of the American Chemical Association will hold a Las Cruces convention May 1 to 4. A side trip to White Sands and the soda lake west of the Sands is planned for May 4, led by Tom Charles of the Chamber of Commerce. About fifty division members will attend.

The Nurse's Advisory Board thanks the Junior Woman's Club and sponsors for a sixty dollar donation from a benefit dance to aid the county nurse salary. Miss Jerry Jackson chaired the event and the club members worked tirelessly, with many cooperating to ensure its success.
Burglars struck the Dolan store on two successive nights. They shattered a large plate glass window, stole about 150 dollars worth of shoes silk hosiery and other items, and attempted to reach the display room through a second break in. A steel grate protected the interior and prevented entry on the second night. The store has suffered multiple burglaries in past years.
County school superintendent Mrs. Nelle Simpers and the Alamogordo school board express hopes to extend to nine months of schooling across most Otero County rural schools. They plan to seek funds and may move pupils from the Avis school to Weed. Avis closed after seven months with teacher Mrs. Ira Tidwell.
Agent Danielson of the Mescalero Reservation sent a dog head suspected of rabies to the Albuquerque State Laboratory. Lab results were positive for rabies. Consequently, dogs were being slaughtered in large numbers by Indian police, a Mescalero resident told the News.
