Over two years Alamogordo post office logged 16 000 registered letters and packages with only one loss reported. A mail car incident at El Paso rifled a letter containing $5, the railway postal clerk reimbursed. Registered mail is receipted and tracked to identify fault.
Alf C. Watson and W. J. Karr join in business, lease the old City Market, purchase S. Price & Co. interest, move into a new stand, and announce a fresh herd of stall fed steers for public inspection. They invite orders by phone 194 and offer piano for sale at 150 dollars by Mrs. McWilliams opposite Hospital.
The News prints the Biennial Report of the Bureau of Immigration for 1905 and 1906 by Col. Max Frost. The bureau is credited with bringing capital and immigrants to the Territory, aided by works like To the Land of Sunshine and Ho To the Land of Sunshine. Numerous bulletins, maps, and health guides are noted as widely distributed and valuable.

The Methodist Episcopal Church in Alamogordo reports a healthy status with seventeen new members in recent weeks. Parsonage upgrades include two rooms and a bath funded to clear local debt, and the old shack near the parsonage has been removed. Rev. Lucas sold it to Rev. C. W. Ricketts for barn use, while Alamogordo remembers its origin as the White Oaks depot. Oliver plans to expand his furniture store afterward.
Work on the American Cooperative Sanatorium advances rapidly with nails driven stone laid plaster spread and walls painted. Assistant General Manager J P Annan reports President W R Lidson of the Sanatorium and Improvement Company supervising to ensure smooth progress while Col Eidson arranges furniture hospital appliances and building lighting. Opening is expected soon signaling a new era for the region and elevating Alamagordo as a household name.
The town remains confident that a grand hotel will rise and a large brick hospital will follow, despite doubters. Holt Middleton of St. Louis is assisting in the RH Piores Co. dry goods department, underscoring local commerce activity.
The author argues for a 3 cent railway fare across territories, noting 2 cent fares in Texas and Nebraska. They claim railways benefit from reduced passes and urge sharing savings with travelers. Cheaper rates, they say, boost travel and business, citing postage as a precedent.
Last Monday the House ended bill introductions with suspension of the rules and will proceed with dispatch. Acts passed include repeal of the game and fish warden, municipal debt refinancing, anti deceptive corporate advertising, new election law, county school superintendent regulation, school director duties, official security bonds, and controls on court house taxes and street sprinkling. Also addressed were estates administration, prohibiting script for payrolls, land sales for townsites, exemption of naphtha and gasoline from coal oil inspection, punishment of blackmail, and grant of school land to Deming cemetery. The House approved measures prohibiting intoxicant sales to Indians, fencing cultivated lands, restricting native liquor sales, meat and milk inspection in municipalities, medical practice regulation, artesian well protection, and penalties for bad checks.
