President Hoover will address the National Boy Scout Council dinner in Washington on Monday March 10 at 9 00 p m Eastern time. National and Columbian Broadcasting Companies will carry the program with the Marine Band performing. Virgil Johnson Hurt in 26 Foot Fall From Tree
Virgil Johnson sustained two broken wrists an injured knee and head wounds after falling about 26 feet from a tree fork to the sidewalk on Michigan avenue Wednesday afternoon. He was pruning shade trees and had climbed to cut a limb when a rotted stub limb failed, sending him down. He struck the sidewalk headfirst and faces a recovery lasting several months.

Mrs Alexander Winesett died Sunday night at the family home in Piper's Gap Virginia after a brief illness. She lived in Alamogordo for years before returning to Piper's Gap with her husband and eleven children. Burial followed at the family residence area. Surviving children include Mrs Miles Williams and Mrs Arthur Ward of Alamogordo, Mrs Hugh Anderson of Hachita New Mexico, Mrs Arthur Cox of Piper's Gap, Miss Mattie Mae Winesett of Piper's Gap, Jordan Winesett of Los Angeles, Lewis Winesett of Galax, Pierce Winesett of Longview Washington, and D A Marvin and Donald Winesett of Piper's Gap.

In late 1929 twelve fraudulent medical mail-order schemes were stopped through actions by the Federal Post Office Department and the U S Department of Agriculture. Deputy State Game Warden My Stevenson and Sheriff Witherspoon in Curry County report multiple arrests for antelope killings in Roosevelt County.
