J F Reeves farm north of El Paso Texas on the El Paso & Southwestern line near Newman shows success with dry farming. Despite six to eight inches of rain, Reeves raised corn melons milo maize kaffir corn sorghum and beans with high yields selling melons for substantial profits and providing forage while others faced drought. The report notes Reeves began by purchasing land at five dollars an acre and achieved strong early results despite a dry winter and spring.
