The Church of Christ at 9th and Texas Avenue lists services from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A 2:30 p.m. Ladies' Bible Class and a 7:30 p.m. Bible study for everyone are also noted. Watch for next week's announcement. Elkins, Minister.
Mrs. A. L. Musgrove came back last week from Carlsbad where she visited her daughter Mrs. Robert M. Patton, her husband, and her granddaughter.
Mrs. A. W. Yerka and her son Bob have returned from a trip visiting Albuquerque and Phoenix area, arriving home to share stories of travel and experiences.
Mr. J. B. Clarke and his son Gerry departed Monday for Patagonia, Arizona, to spend a few days visiting Mr. Clarke's parents.
Mr and Mrs Tom Mann of Roswell were visitors here Monday and Tuesday.
Jean and Katherine McArthur organized a White Elephant sale at home to benefit the Heart Fund. About 50 children attended on February 25 and purchased books games beads and fudge, totaling four dollars donated to the campaign.
St Pauls Church holds Bible School at 10 a.m. in Mr R Bunkers residence at Catalina and Teresa nes. A church service is planned for 7:30 p.m. at St Johns Episcopal Church. Buddy Beacham and wife returned from a two week visit to Vidalia Louisiana to see family. Mrs May travels to Sun Valley California after visiting Alamogordo friends and Mountain Park hosts.
Mr and Mrs Del D Ellis of Los Angeles Calif are in Alamo Gordo to visit daughter Mrs R Lightholder and grandson Roger. Mrs Nola Buckner has recovered from illness and is around again. Mrs Ralph Armstrong of Indiana Ave returns from a week with Mrs P B Hendricks in Cloudcroft.
The Rev. and Mrs. James G. Wayne Jr. and two daughters visited the Waynes and Gates families in Alamogordo on Monday. Also along were Mrs. Wayne's mother Estelle Nappier and her sister and brother-in-law Doris Nappier Fisher and Cecil Fisher. The Fishers, planning an overseas assignment, had traveled to Hagerman to visit relatives. The Wayne family returned to McCauley, Texas, on Tuesday.
February 21 Alfonso Rodriguez of El Paso wed Frances Gonzales of Alamogordo after license issued. February 24 E E Sparks and Nell Adair, El Paso, obtained license. February 25 Robert Schermerhorn and Blanche Lemieux, El Paso, license granted. February 25 Louis Cyr and Genevieve Marcenkowski, El Paso, married by JP J A Tatum. February 25 Wayne McGrath, Detroit, and Erma Huffstetler of El Paso, license issued.
Forty two people attended World Day of Prayer services at St Johns Episcopal Church marking observance shared in 92 countries. The program featured Mrs Margaret Gibson and speakers from Grace Methodist and St Pauls Lutheran with Rev Carl Miller leading prayers and organist Mrs France. Representatives from local churches attended and wheat export figures noted: 36 of every 100 bushels since the war.
February statistics show 81 admissions and 89 dismissals. Surgeries included 11 major 17 minor and 13 deliveries with one death. Names listed include Maude Coker Minnie McNatt Mary Garcia Bill McNew and several others with addresses in Alamogordo Orogrande Mescatero and nearby areas.
Birth announcements list numerous newborns with parents and locations including Erma Linda Cano at 421 Texas Avenue and Daniel Guillermo Borunda at 604 Maryland Avenue. Other births note Antonio Blas Baca Bent N. M. William Ramos Angela Gloria Jean Henry George Robert Alan Ernestine Luevano Phillip Ray Walter John with dates February 2 through February 27. A REA stat notes 78.2 percent of U S farms electrified. Mrs Jack Beauchamp departs for Marysville Kansas.
