Contractors To Crush Rock By Electricity
Preparations are under way to crush rock for the paving project on Pennsylvania using electric power driven machinery. Haner and Burns of Las Cruces are extending a temporary line east of town to the crusher site about 200 yards northeast of the Falcone residence. Grading on the new paving project began last week with large quantities of dirt moved on the south end, south of the town limits.

Death of Mrs Strait at Home on Vermont Avenue
Mrs Lela Pearl Strait 4 wife of Ulyses G Strait died at her home on Vermont avenue at 5 o clock Wednesday morning after a lingering illness arteriosclerosis given as cause. Mullens Nets Sixth Lion This Month in New Mexico
State game warden W. A. Mullens returned from San Andreas with a large lion skin weighing 150 to 175 pounds. He and three hounds tracked the animal through light snow, shooting from near a ledge as the lion perched in a tall tree. Mullens notes lions migrate from Old Mexico and says he has killed seven lions since January 31, including six in Guadalupe and southern New Mexico this month.

Death of Rufus C. Smith at his La Luz home
Rufus Columbus Smith aged 72 died at his La Luz residence on Wednesday morning March 1 following a brief pneumonia attack. He leaves a wife and two sons Charles of La Luz and Will in California. A Hondo, Arkansas pioneer who homesteaded at Weed in 1914, he settled in La Luz five years ago. Funeral services were held at his La Luz home Thursday at 1 30 pm conducted by Rev Earl R. Keating and burial followed in La Luz cemetery. Members of the local Odd Fellows lodge attended in force.
