Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Delvie Brummett Hefner were held at the Methodist church with Rev. Ernest Roper officiating. Interment followed in La Luz cemetery. The White Mountain I O O F Association held its annual convention at Camp Lee Roberson near Ruidoso on June 17 and 18 1939 with delegates from Ft Sumner Carrizozo Las Cruces El Paso and Alamogordo. A resolution thanked the Forest Service CCC workers and local residents for protecting the Odd Fellows Camp during recent forest fires as winds shifted the blaze left a horseshoe around the camp leaving a partial shielded area.
