Passing of Charlotte M. Rice at Tularosa
Charlotte Melvira Rice died in Tularosa on June 5 after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held June 7 at the Tularosa Methodist Church with Rev. F. J. Johnston and Comet Chapter of the Eastern Star of Carrizozo officiating. burial followed in Tularosa Cemetery. She was born October 3 1870 in Chicago and lived in La Luz Parsons Lincoln and Fort Stanton before moving to Tularosa in 1937. She was active in church and Eastern Star, survived by three sisters four nieces three nephews and other relatives.

The dedication of a marker for the 200th Coast Artillery (AA) has been moved to June 14 in Santa Fe. Brig. Gen. R C Chariton and Gov. John E Miles will speak. Lieut. Col. E L Safford leads the setup of a four by six foot concrete plaque bearing two crossed cannon barrels and the inscription 200th C A (A A). Mill Strikes End as Prestridge mill resumes operations
