Forest Army Camp reports steady intake for CCC work

About 120 men have been handed to the Forest Service by military authorities for CCC duty along the Sacramento River. Five crews are at road and trail construction, erosion control, line work, and forest culture. Up to 200 men expected, possibly by week end, from Fort Bliss. Command under three officers Lieut Wally Ford, Lieut Bailey, Lieut Jeffrees with four NCOs including three sergeants and two corporals.

Manuel Martinez received 10 days in jail for drunk and disorderly conduct at the bail game. Francisco Velarde alias Frank Porras is jailed after pleading guilty to stealing an automobile trailer belonging to Bill McCommis. trailer recovered February 13 though he had left town. Frank Duran and Manuel Quinonez were fined 10.50 including costs for drunken disorderly conduct after attempting to enter La Luz Lodge through a window Tuesday night. Mescalero Doctor Kills Wife Then Takes Own Life

Dr L B Knecht 39 shot his wife 34 in Mescalero last Sunday night and then killed himself. A 11 year old daughter awoke, called for help, and a jury ruled the couple's deaths final.
