About 100 players from 20 towns are expected to compete in the Southern New Mexico Golf Association tournament at Alamogordo July 22 23 and 24 with Friday and Saturday rounds and finals Sunday. A dance and Calcutta Pool are planned with local club members leading committees and prizes.

Mr and Mrs W M Todd host their daughter Alice M Tisdale of Minneapolis. She has toured Europe and Alaska and led an all female Antiques caravan from Minneapolis to Portland and back. Mr Tisdale notes May flour output fell below 100000 barrels, the first time in decades. Alice Tisdale presides over Minnesota Flower Garden Society and directs state horticultural efforts. The Tisdales arrived last Saturday. he heads to California to see his mother while Alice stays two weeks.

Odd Fellows to Have a New Lodge Home

About 5 000 cars from the Rio Grande Valley visited Lincoln National Forest during the long July 4 weekend. Traffic streamed through the area day and night for nearly four days with counts peaking at 300 cars per hour in a short interval and 200 per hour over an all day period. Carlsbad man gains extended permit for Guadalupe NPS caves
Mr. Hulin Ussery of Carlsbad who holds a permit for public conveniences in the Guadalupe Mountain region has been granted extended privileges by agreement with the National Park Service. His supplementary use permit authorizes him to tour tourists through the Guadalupe Caves, about 50 miles west of Carlsbad Caverns. The caves, praised as wonderfully beautiful by the late Dr. Lee of the National Geographic Survey, were previously closed to the public due to vandalism.

Don Cortez to Play Postponed Engagement at Stout Pavilion

Rabers Captures Five Prizes at McGaffey Fourth of July Rodeo
Local rodeo performer Tom Rabers won four first prizes and the all around prize at McGaffey Fourth of July celebration with day money in calf roping and wild cow milking twice. Curt Lee accompanied Rabers but withdrew after a wild cow gored him in the right arm during a stoppage attempt to calm the animal. The horn pierced flesh and bone, causing a painful injury.
