An honor student graduate of Tularosa High School class of 1947, he is a student at New Mexico A and M College in College Station. His father teaches mathematics in Tularosa's school system. Harvey played basketball and football and excelled academically.

Passing of Mrs. Eimma Belle Fretz
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Belle Fretz were held January 20 at Leadinghaus Mullins Chapel. Elders Smith Fackrel Bagley and Hakes officiated with music by local singers. Interment was in Mount Vista Cemetery. Born May 1 1858 in Webster Illinois she would have turned ninety. Survived by daughter Ada Yerka and grandson Robert Yerka. She lived in Alamogordo with her family since moving from Albuquerque two years ago. She remained alert and enjoyed card games. She was a Methodist.

Bent Youth Fatally Shot In Accident
Victorio Ortiz, a Bent second grader born April 22, 1939, died after an accidental .22 rifle shot while hunting with friends. He was taken to Alamogordo hospital and died en route. Funeral services were held at Guadalupe Church, with burial in Walters' Cemetery.

Death of Albert G German at Van Horn
Albert German former Alamogordo resident died at his Van Horn Texas home January 15 at age 62 after months of ill health. Funeral services were held in Van Horn with interment there. He married Hazel Marquis on August 1 1920 and they had one son. Survived by widow and son, the family moved from Alamogordo in 1922 and he had worked as a barber in Alamogordo and later in Van Horn in furniture and cabinet business. Will Bradford attended the funeral.

Otero County groups push county carnival booths at the Alamogordo Community Center to benefit the Fair Association. Fulton Robinson, carnival chairman, says bands from Alamogordo High will provide music and booths will mix entertainment with fundraising. Hintze had lived in Cloudcroft about twenty years.

Boettcher & Co. of Denver won the bid for Alamo gordo’s 58,000 dollars of Water Revenue Bonds. First 22,000 at 2.75 percent interest, last 36,000 at 3.50 percent, plus a 1.80 per thousand dollar premium. Aggregate bid 97.10 less than next lowest bidder. Denver firm prepared the issue and quoted 950 dollars for issue prep including ordinance, legal approval, and printing. Bonds fund current water system expenses and capital outlay such as wells, reservoir work, improvements, and mains additions.
