Pilot Lt. Morris Gendron among six killed in Liberator crash
Liberal Kansas Daily Times reports Lt. Morris J. Gendron and five airmen died when a four engine Liberator bomber crashed after takeoff from Liberal Army Air Field during combat training. The victims include four second lieutenants Raymond Melinder Robert Johnson Ellwood Meyer and Warren Goodwin and Corporal James Nolte. Gendron was an instructor and father of four. Funeral set for Jan 7 in Madera California.

In December work covered the west side of the mountains the quat refuge and Moss ranch. Trappers took 17 coyotes 5 bobcats and 4 badgers. Wet weather hindered trapping with some traps washed out or frozen. The last ten days of the quail season were too wet for hunts but enough quail remain for another hunt next fall. Predators were sparse and will aid wood defense grease.

Henderson Rites Held For Alamogordo Resident
Edward H. Henderson aged about 64, longtime Alamogordo resident, died January 3 after a long illness at his home. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Benson were held January 4 at the G. & IL. Moruary with many friends in attendance. Interment in the local cemetery. Survivors include his widow Latitia Florence Babers Henderson, three brothers George Finis and Alvy, and numerous relatives. The Hendersons were prominent pioneer settlers known for generosity.
