New Route To Cloudcroft Open By June 8
A new highway route from Toboggan to Cloudcroft via Bailey Canyon is set for inspection June 8 for the Lowdermilk contract grading and oil surfacing of the last section between Alamo Gordo and Cloudcroft. If approved the route may open a few days earlier. Public Roads data indicate oil surfacing between Mountain Park and Cloudcroft is planned for July with a seal coat and an oil mat laid next spring for final paving.

Alamogordo town board completed acquisition of the Edgar Parks property in La Luz Canyon for 6000 dollars. The 80 acre site includes a water right for about 16 acres and daytime flow rights to La Luz springs. Parks, an El Paso realtor, retains occupancy rights for 387 years. the town gains land and water, avoiding a previously planned 1000 dollar pipeline easement payment.

Colonel L S Gra ham announced plans to reassign state army reserve personnel in New Mexico to troop basis units under the Army Organized Reserve Program.
