Local Men Return From Battle Front
Three Otero county men arrived in San Francisco on Saturday en route home from Korea and the war zone. Pvt Cristabel Rodriquez of 111 Pennsylvania Avenue Alamogordo and Cpl O Neal Patterson of 300 Delaware Avenue Alamogordo plus Cpl Phillip Rhidley of Mescalero were among veterans listed as returning. Rodriquez parents learned of his return from lists after months without word. he served about three years with over a year in Korea and attended Alamogordo schools before enlisting. Patterson spoke to his parents from San Francisco saying he would be sent to Camp Carson Colorado and hoped to be home by December 26 or 27 after four years in service with a year in Korea.

Two Held In Jail After Express Theft
Elmer Johns and Arthur Wiesman were arrested on vagrancy charges after allegedly stealing an express package valued under five dollars. The package contents were found scattered on the railroad right of way. Johns confessed to the theft. both men are in Otero county jail awaiting action by the FBI. Wiesman previously served a 3 year 2 month prison sentence in Illinois for armed robbery and grand larceny.

Dedication of Midwest City junior high marks federal aid milestone
Superintendent W B Caton and Mrs Caton returned from Oklahoma City where they attended the opening and dedication of the Midwest City junior high school.
