Alamo Boy Reenlists With Cavalry in Tokyo
Private First Class Jose A. Torres of Alamogordo rejoined the 1st Cavalry Division in Tokyo entering the Army reenlistment program for one year and six months. A veteran of Leyte and Das Reich campaigns, he holds the Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two stars. He enlisted September 24 and sailed overseas April 16 with parents listed at 218 Maryland Ave.

Haynes Celebrate Forty Fifth Wedding Anniversary
Many friends gathered Sunday at C. H. Haynes home two miles north of town to honor Mer and Mrs T Haynes on their forty fifth anniversary. Daughter Mrs Tom Burton of California and her family attended, as did Mr Burton. Haynes came to the Rio Grande Valley in 1895 and first worked as a cowboy with Rincon’s Detroit Ranch and Acheson McClintock before settling in Alamogordo shortly after town founding.

Present officers were reelected and improvements to the grounds include twenty new racing stalls built near the ball park under Joe Hennessee. A Dallas, Texas salesman was arrested in Carlsbad after selling nylon hose above the price ceiling. He faced charges in front of Commissioner Scott Etter with a bond set at 754 dollars. Mrs Jed Yale, early Alamogordo resident, died at her home in Haines City Florida. The Yale family moved from Osborne Kansas to Alamogordo in 1908 and lived nearby for years. She is survived by her husband and daughter Dorothy. The daughter stays with Mr Yale in Florida while he serves overseas.
