C E Moore of 307 Dewey Lane plans retirement from the U S Forest Service on December 31 after 41 years. He has supervised Lincoln National Forest at Alamogordo for 15 years, coming from Apache and Santa Fe forests. Moore emphasized conservation, watershed and timber management, road building with Highway 83, and fire protection, while collaborating with state and private lands. Minors May Renew Licenses Before Sixteenth Birthday

Tularosa Man Dies At 77

Smallpox Case Reported In Town
David Shepperd, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Shepperd, 1108 9th St., is ill at home with smallpox per Dr. E. P. Simms deputy district health officer. He had been ill nine days. doctors expect no epidemic. Classmates and others in contact have been revaccinated. David was vaccinated last year and shows strong signs vaccination took.

Flat tire crash injures none on Highway 70
Walter Scott driving a 1951 Chevrolet carry all from Tucson to the Indian Reservation changed a tire six miles west of Alamogordo when Lt. Arlan Breitenstein in a 1952 Ford convertible struck the parked car. The car moved nine feet, then 212 feet across the road through two fences before stopping. No injuries were reported.

Former Otero Men Die in Durango Log Accident
Two ex Otero County residents Oscar Hamilton and Tom Jonas were killed when logs crushed them at a Durango Colorado sawmill. Hamilton died instantly while Jonas lived about an hour. Both men had worked at Murcia and Grants NM and were employed by John Wiegel Lumber Co. in Durango.

Brief Services Held At Chapel For Mr. Clark
A brief service for Henry Grady Clark was held at Mullins-Hamilton Funeral Home chapel on Saturday December 19 at 10 o clock. He died in an automobile accident with Rudolph Silva. Final rites were conducted by Reverend H H Allen. The body was taken to El Paso for burial in Masonic cemetery. Clark was a member of Masonic Lodge 130 and three children and the widow survived along with several siblings and grandchildren.

Eleven Injured As Two Trucks Collide West Of Alamogordo
Eleven men were injured Friday when two trucks collided about four miles west of Alamogordo on highway 70. The Ford driven by Paul Troutt and a Studebaker pickup driven by Manuel Reiz rolled over after a defective wheel on the Studebaker caused loss of control. Ten hospitalized with injuries ranging from pelvis and rib injuries to skull injuries while two others escaped serious harm. The trucks belonged to the Hexter Construction Company at Holloman Air Force Base. no charges filed as of Monday while investigations continued.
