Several Arrests Made On Liquor Violations

A liquor haul on Tuesday by Prohi Howard Beacham with Jim Allan Deputy Fred Crosby and John Ostic yielded 12 gallons of deer water and four arrests. Those arrested include Faustino Torres Tomas Quinn Sanford Thomas and Pete Melendres in transport and possession of Juarez whiskey brandy and alcohol imported from Mexico. Sanford Thomas released on recognizance after case dismissal. Torres Quinn and Melendres arraigned Wednesday before U S Commissioner Tom Charles.

Death of Harrison B York at his Alamogordo home

Harrison Bookout York aged 84 died Friday morning in Alamogordo after years of illness. Funeral at Baptist Church followed by interment in Mount Vista. Born January 7 1847 in Izard County Arkansas he lived in Texas before moving to New Mexico in 1884. Survived by wife Rebecca Jane York two children W H York and Mrs H P Johnson plus relatives and many friends.

Heavenly West pageant to be staged at Baptist Church

The Baptist Church will present The Heavenly West pageant next Sunday night December 27. Forty six participants will portray scenes from the Annunciation to the Presentation of Jesus with no admission charge, just a free will offering.

Thought Sister And Brother Reunite After Decades

P. M. Nelson of Tularosa and High Ella was surprised when a sister Minnie Woods of Lubbock Texas and brother Harve Nelson of San Pedro California arrived unannounced. He had been told they were dead and had not seen them for about fifty years. Minnie was six and Harve three when last seen.

Alamogordo man pleads guilty to double robbery charges

Separate charges were brought against Jose Gonzales of Alamogordo who was arrested last week in connection with robberies of the Dolan Bros. store and the Golden Crust Bakery. Gonzales has pleaded guilty to both charges and is in jail in lieu of a $1250 bond in each case.

Beautiful Pageant At N M School For The Blind

Pupils of the N M School for the Blind under Mrs P A Small presented a Nativity pageant in the Assembly Hall. Several hundred attended the Sunday night show, which highlighted the new hall stage and lighting. It marked the first Christmas program the school could accommodate beyond a few invited visitors.

The death of Mrs. Gerald Samples, nee Amanda Villareal, 25, occurred at her mother’s home Sunday after a three months illness. She came from Missouri three months ago. Funeral services were held Monday at Iplesia Baptista on Maryland Avenue and burial followed. Her husband, Gerald Samples, who was blinded in a Missouri dynamite blast months ago, could not attend.

Alamo Boys Edge Carrizozo in Close High School Match

Last Friday at Carrizozo the Alamo boys defeated the home team by a small margin as they show early pace and potential to rise in the district. The Alamo girls struggled with two zone defenses in the first half and were outscored. Earlier Wednesday the Alamo past lettermen were edged in a tight game by the high school team.
