Father Giran Leads Parish Hall Project Completion

Father Giran with parishioners and friends completed a large hall at St. Mary’s Parish after finishing touches on a new roof ceiling and plastering. The project grew from 700 to over 7000 dollars with donations and labor. a second stage begins soon including offices and reception areas.

Hobo Mangled by Freight Train at Orogrande Saturday

A 60 year old man named Doyle died about five hours after being mangled by a freight train while attempting to alight near Orogrande. He left a wife and six children and was a member of the Odd Fellows. The accident occurred Saturday and he was buried at the county cemetery plot Tuesday morning.

Belen Socorro West Side Road Reopens Early Next Year

State Highway officials report the west side of the river road between Belen and Socorro will reopen around the first of the year. Detours will cover Rio Puerco and Rio Salado bridges damaged by last September floods, with new spans installed and strengthened banks and approaches. Traffic will continue on detours during construction and winter conditions are unlikely to interrupt flow.
