The Otero County Poultry Show held December 5 6 and 7 at the Pavilion Alamogordo awarded premiums to delegates from Alamogordo and surrounding towns. Judges from Denver named top cockerels hens and pullets across breeds including Anconas White Leghorns Buff Leghorns Brown Leghorn Black Minorcas White Minorcas White Plymouth Rocks Barred Plymouth Rocks Rhode Island Reds White Wyandottes and Buff Orpingtons. Best Male Bird went to E T Stevens and Best Female Bird to Opal Haynes. Largest display was by L J Layton featuring Anconas and White Wyandottes.

Mrs H D Franklin Suffers Serious Fall At Auditorium
Mrs. H D Franklin fell from a stage while training young performers at the High School auditorium. She hit her head on a piano stool, fractured her hip, and now wears a plaster cast with a rigid hip support. Assisting with the program were Miss Katherine Dale and Miss Blanche Franklin, and the event proceeds supported a phonograph fund.

Prohibition Agents take Stevens roadster to Albuquerque
Two representatives from the Prohibition Enforcement office in Albuquerque arrived in Alamogordo Wednesday morning and took the Stevens roadster seized from Gonzales and Castro last week. They also recovered a substantial quantity of liquor to be used as court evidence and then disposed of.

New Mexico Prison Population Rises 27 Percent in Year
Santa Fe reports the state penitentiary saw a 27 percent rise in inmates for the year ending Nov 30, with an average daily count of 399 up from 314. Federal prisoners drove the increase. 358 were in custody at year start, 520 admitted, 502 released, including 68 pardons and 56 paroles. A July 19 food strike led to guards firing on inmates, killing Martin Baldonado and wounding five others.

Robbery near Roswell hijacks Cadillac four passenger car
Sheriff J. C. Peck reports Joe Brown of Wagonmound New Mexico and a companion were hijacked near the Felix forty miles southwest of Roswell by three men in a Studebaker. The Cadillac seven passenger touring car was taken, tires were let air out, and the hijackers fled toward Elida with a $100 reward offered for the Cadillac occupants. Brown and his partner pursued until a breakdown near Acme. Officials released watch for the car last seen in Elida around eight p.m. with the attackers believed to be armed.

Choral Society Visits Cloudcroft for Rural Program
Under R G Herron the Community Choral Society traveled to Cloudcroft on Wednesday and performed at the high school auditorium.
