Government Opens Local Bank at Alamogordo Post Office
The United States Government opened its savings bank at the Alamogordo post office on Wednesday. Five depositors contributed a total of 182 dollars on opening day, including one man and two women from Alamogordo. Outside deposits were declined due to regulations. No stamp books were sold. children’s books range from ten cents to one dollar. Postmaster notes holiday funds for kids may delay passport to savings stamps until January. National deposits total about eleven million dollars.
