Santa Delivers 3000 Treats to Alamogordo Area Children
Santa Claus distributed over three thousand treats including candy nuts and apples to children in Alamogordo and Tularosa on Saturday. The event was sponsored by the Alamogordo Optimists Club with help from the Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. Treats went to the community center NMSB and the local orphanage in Tularosa, with a Christmas tree and music provided by local volunteers.

The Bonnells, Fred and Mrs. Bonnell of 1321 Ohio Ave., were awarded 5332 in a U S federal court in Albuquerque for damages from a Jan 21 1950 collision with an army half track truck on Highway 54 near Oro Grande. The judge found $5332 substantiated. they had sought 12906.

Mrs Pete Johnson Dies In Carrizozo
Laura Johnson 84 mother of Ira C. Johnson Alamo gordo and Carroll Johnson Three Rivers died in her Carrizozo home Sunday. Services were held there Monday. A New Mexico resident 67 years she was born in Baton Rouge La 1867 and came to Las Cruces in 1884 after marrying Peter Minor Johnson. Survived by 13 children 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with many in Carrizozo for the services. Surviving sons include Edward Santa Fe Bill Tucumcari Pete Carrizozo Ira and Carroll and Thomas. Daughters listed include Mrs S W Kelsey Ventura Calif Mrs Ira Greer Tucumcari Mrs Meyer Barnett Carrizozo Mrs Don Ferguson Ventura Mrs Bryan Cozier Tucumcari Mrs Ray Richard Carrizozo and Mrs Lloyd Treat Roswell.

Mobile germ lab set for Alamogordo food premises
A State Public Health mobile lab arrived in Alamogordo to test utensils in area eateries for a month. The team led by Ryan Pierson will visit Carrizozo, Tularosa, and Rio Doso, with preliminary work by L. J. Gordon. Inspections under the new 1951 law begin June 9, with restaurants classified A to C and some Cs closed if not improved.

State Housing Board Passes Alamo Project
Alamogordo seeks a 300 unit public housing project approved by the State Housing Board in Albuquerque. The plan, awaiting final survey, would be federally subsidized with rents about 20 percent below market and income limits set at five times annual rent. The Ft. Inocente Montoya Ortega aged 50 died December 14 at Ruidoso-Hondo Valley hospital. Services were held December 16 at the Bent Catholic church with Father Marcellus presiding. Funeral services were held at Mullins-O'Dell chapel at 2:30 p.m. December 17 for John Lawrence Bartlett 53 of High Rolls who died December 12 in Alamogordo. Born August 26, 1898 in Tennessee, he recently lived in Otero County. Survivors include his wife and two sons Reid and Herbert Bartlett of Chowchilla California two daughters Audrey Vann Bristow Oklahoma and Jeraldine Ormsbee Champagne Illinois. Burial was at Monte Vista Cemetery with Mullins-O'Dell in charge. Reverend T. J. Gamble Jr officiated. Hymns were Rock of Ages Lead Kindly Light and God Be With You. Pallbearers were Forrest Chambers Roy Britton Paul Campbell Hogal Hall Lester Millhouse and O'Dell Millhouse.

Pair Sentenced For Car Theft And Check Fraud
Two men received one to two year penitentiary terms from Judge W T Scoggin. George Harlan pled guilty to issuing fraudulent checks after passing more than 150 dollars in local merchants. he previously faced car theft and grand larceny charges and hid as a Hollywood album firm agent in Alamogordo. Mario DiGioia of New York pleaded guilty to theft of a car taken from Pinon area. A 17 year old delinquent, previously under court custody, was sent to the Springer correctional home after involvement in an assault on two boys leaving band practice.
