The second annual Ace of Races Marathon drew 313 runners from across the nation to Holloman Air Force Base on Saturday December 7. Organizers invited visitors to glimpse one of the largest bases in the U S Air Force and see the base that produces most F 16 aircraft while offering a behind the scenes view.
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham released a $10.9 billion budget plan urging the Legislature to boost spending on housing, behavioral health, water protection and child welfare. The proposal, the largest in state history, increases funding for the Office of the State Engineer by 20.5 percent and fronts roughly 10 percent hikes for three departments while preserving reserves and promoting cleaner energy.
BEA data show outdoor recreation added 3.2 billion to New Mexico's value added in 2023, composing 24 percent of GDP and supporting over 29,000 jobs. The sector grew 6.6 percent year over year, with RVing boating fishing and snow activities as top drivers and more than 1,000 new jobs created.
