Thieves Loot Cloudcroft Bar. Looted $90 and Liquor
Thieves broke into the Half Circle A Bar in Cloudcroft on Monday night December 14 and escaped with about $90 from the cash register and 12 quarts of liquor. They also tried two other robberies that night including the Post Office lobby and Skyline Bar attempts. Sheriff Ray Prather and deputies investigated with City Marshall Terrell Herndon.

High winds 50 mph disrupted Friday activities in Alamogordo. Schools dismissed around 10 am as sand blinded students and closed roads delayed buses. Debris included a shattered Brunell Motors window and uprooted trees. the Women's Club meeting was canceled and a hangar fell onto Highway 70 near the Fair Grounds.

Calif Couple and Two Indians Hurt In Highway Crash
A Mescalero Reservation man Ivans Martine and his passenger Murphy Chico were driving on the wrong side of Highway 70 around 6 30 p m Sunday under suspected alcohol influence when they hit a Cadillac carrying Mr and Mrs Boyd of El Monte California. Martine sustained a broken right arm and deep chin wounds while Chico had a deep right cheek laceration. The Boyds suffered bruises hip injury and lac other injuries. All were taken to Mescalero Indian Hospital and charges will be brought against Martine.

Scouts Aid Stranded Driver In Cloudcroft Area Rescue
Alamogordo Troop 128 Boy Scouts helped free Leonardo Estrada pinned under his overturned 1948 Dodge on December 12 three miles west of Cloudcroft near a water fountain. Scoutmaster A S Guzeika led the rescue. Estrada received first aid for scratches before a wrecker arrived.

Alamogordo Men Die in Highway 54 Crash
Two Alamogordo men Rudolph Mendivil Silva 21 and Henry Grady Clark 63 died from injuries after a car plunged into a culvert three miles south of Alamogordo on Highway 54. Silva’s wife Dora L and children survive. Clark’s surviving relatives include three sons and several siblings. Rosary services for Silva are set at Mullins- Hamilton Funeral Home with an Immaculate Conception Church mass planned.

Captain E A Tafoya of the New Mexico State Police announced a planned crackdown on out of state vehicle licenses for people working in New Mexico. Military personnel may be exempt if licensed in their home state. Officials may shift toward court citations to enforce licensing. Trailers must be licensed or turned in at the county assessor. Thomas Foley Dies In Hospital
Thomas Foley of Taunton Massachusetts died December 11 at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital at age 72. He was a retired railroad construction superintendent and father of Jerry Foley, a Holloman Air Force Base air installation officer. He is survived by his son, his wife of Taunton, and five sisters.
