DPD clerk W. Wood of Mescalero gave $24.75 to Alamogordo Associated Charities, a Mescalero Chapter gift from the Federal Employees Union. He said more monthly donations will follow during the present emergency and that Mescalero federal employees intensify charity work locally.
Chamber notes that northern New Mexico roads were snowbound for about two weeks while main Federal routes were repeatedly opened and quickly drifted shut. Clovis to Las Cruces remained continually passable. Complaints target 20 miles of the Corona Ancho stretch with rough rock and estimates of 500 dollars per mile to fix.

Mrs. Alice Bent died Friday morning December 11 at her Alamogordo home on Michigan Avenue after a months illness. Funeral held Monday at 3 p m at the Methodist church with Rev. J B Fuller officiating and local interment. Born August 20 1848 in Bainbridge Indiana she leaves son Harry M Peyton of New Orleans. Mr Bent died six years ago. Mrs Bent valued public affairs and was a trusted neighbor, mourned by many in Alamogordo.

Mrs J A Browning known as Grandma Browning died Tuesday at her daughter's home after weeks of illness. The funeral at the Alamogordo Methodist Church was led by Rev Fuller with a mixed quartet. interment followed in the local cemetery. Born April 4 1847 in McDonald County Missouri she lived a long pioneer life across Texas New Mexico and California before settling in Alamogordo where she operated a shop. Eight of ten children survive including Della McConnnmus Walter Browning J N Browning Lil Ian York Geo A Browning Edwin L Browning J B Lafferty and Bert C Browning. Grandchildren and relatives attended the service. She was a faithful Methodist and entertaining storyteller in life and after many years in Alamogordo remains a cherished neighbor.
