Mail will be accepted any date and the post office will stay open December 16 and 238 with deliveries on Sundays December 17 and 24 to prevent buildup.

Services Held For Huston Goforth In Tularosa
Funeral services for Huston Goforth who died December 4 at Mayo Clinic were conducted Sunday at the Tularosa Methodist Church. Graveside rites were by the Tularosa Masonic lodge with Mullins-O'Dell in charge. He was born 1887 in Burden Kansas and moved to New Mexico as a teen before settling in Tularosa. He left a wife from 1908 and three children, plus three grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Claude F Matthews 67 a Alamogordo resident for 32 years died Friday December 8 at 3 p m in Gerald Champion Memorial hospital His remains were prepared for shipment to El Dorado Arkansas He had come to Alamogordo for his wife's health but she died soon after Their stay included Murcia and work with Southwestern Lumber Prestridge Lumber and Stanley's He is survived by three siblings Mrs Fannie Harris of Abanda Alabama a sister in Texarkana Texas and a brother in El Dorado The brother Will Matthews and Mrs Matthews came to be with him He lived at 817 Pennsylvania avenue and had been ill a year and very sick the past month He was born November 9 1883 and was described as retiring yet well liked by friends

The remains of Newton Tatum who died at the wheel of his car last Wednesday in Cloudcroft were shipped to Tuscola Texas for burial. Mullins O Dell prepared the body. Tatum aged 46 was an Arizona man and a mess sergeant for the company including Murray Morgan Lyle Rathman Lowell Hoffman and the late Herbert Walker. He was shipped home from Africa under the age regulation.

Funeral Services For C. E. Olson Held In Roswell
Clarence E. Olson soil conservation head for the Roswell district died after a heart ailment. Funeral services were held December 12 at Ballard chapel Roswell with Rev F Homer Tegler officiating. Olson, born August 1906 in Nelson Minnesota, studied forestry at the University of Minnesota. He married Helen Fifer in August 1935. Survived by his wife and a stepdaughter Wilma Adams of Roswell. He was active in civic groups and was district governor of Roswell Toastmasters. Attending from Alamogordo were Barr Fifer J C Danley and others. Burial in South Park cemetery.

Sanguinet said the crowd was among the largest ever and donated all receipts to the Cubs. Bobby McGrew 10 year old won high honors for selling tickets with 22.80 in sales. Robert Brown Cubmaster Pack 129 tallied receipts and announced prizes donated by Alamogordo, Tularosa and High Rolls merchants.

Nine Year Old Boy Case. Attacker to Plead Guilty
Arizona man Eugene Thornton faces charges of improper touching of a person under 18 and will plead guilty at a preliminary hearing. Thornton was arrested after taking a nine year old boy from playmates for 30 to 40 minutes near Virginia and Ninth streets. He could receive up to five years or a fine up to $1,000 under 1949 law.

Santa and Reindeer Parade Opens Alamogordo Christmas Season
Santa Claus and four reindeer will parade through Alamogordo today starting 10 am at Eleventh and Pennsylvania, then travel a loop ending on New York Street. Santa will speak to children on the courthouse lawn and may relocate to the Community Center in bad weather. A second talk is set for 5 pm for those unable to attend the morning event. Auto rolls injuring two women east of Mesvalero on Highway 70
