Funeral Services Held for James A Welch in Alamogordo
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church for James A. Welch who died December 6 1928 at his Alamogordo home. A Civil War veteran born in Tennessee in 1841 he lived in Alamogordo since 1920. He was married twice with several children surviving. Interment followed at the local cemetery.

Mohair Growers Elect Directors At El Paso Meeting
Members of the Southwestern Goat Growers association known as the El Paso mohair pool met in El Paso on December 11 for the annual meeting. Three directors were elected from a nine member board. L C Knape was reelected president Fred M Bradford became vice president and W W Threadgill was reelected secretary and treasurer. Directors include John Wood E R Fleming and J H Earle. An auditing committee was authorized and books deemed in excellent shape. An office suite was secured in El Paso. The group plans a membership drive to enlarge the pool and may establish a second concentration point outside El Paso. The existing membership controls about half of the Mohair in San Andreas and a quarter in Pinon. A banquet at Hussman Hotel followed the meeting with several speakers addressing members. Mohair volume sold by the association tripled in the past year and is expected to grow. Otero County sells about 600000 pounds annually, much of which is sold outside the association.

Ordinance Sets Pound Keeper Fee For Impounded Animals

Death Comes Suddenly To Joseph C. Graham
Joseph C. Graham, longtime Alamogordo resident, died at his son's home near the Mescalero reservation on December 8 at age 74. Funeral services were held at Geren & Leadinghouse chapel with interment in Mount Vista cemetery. His wife Mrs. Graham died March 8, 1928, in Alamogordo, leaving a son and daughter, Mrs. Harry Gottlieb, among other relatives.

Town pavilion to be turned over to a trustee board
