Funeral services for W. H. McCarty 60 died at his Alamogordo home were held December 4 at Leadinghaus Mullins Mortuary with interment in the local cemetery. Christmas Concert at New Mexico School for the Blind

The public is invited to a Christmas concert at the New Mexico School for the Blind on Tuesday at 8 15 pm. The hour and a quarter program features carols old and new sung by junior and senior choruses and a male octet, plus orchestra piano and violin solos. Class Teams To Battle Saturday At High School

Two intermural games set for Saturday morning at the high school gym. The Ninth grade or lower? plays opening round section at 9 o clock with Fifth B versus Sixth C and Seventh grade plus Fifth C clash. Past results show Seventh B beat Sixth A 17 to 6 and Eighth A defeated Seventh A 34 to 17. The tournament progresses until a champion is crowned with about 200 boys participating.

Lumber Industry Victim of Vicious Circle

W. J. Jackson of the M. R. Prestridge Lumber Co. told the Alamogordo Rotary Club the lumber industry is hazardous and suffers from price swings and tax policy. He warned that mills cannot build inventories, causing shortages and an unsatisfactory distribution network. He called for halting the wage and lumber price cycle gradually.

Scouts To Patrol Traffic At Noon In City

Scouts from Troop 122 will begin traffic direction and intersection patrol at the noon hour each weekday starting Monday December 15. The program, a joint effort of the schools town and state police, aims to reduce street crossing hazards for children. W Barnie Caton, superintendent of schools, calls it precautionary. Scouts will have jurisdiction over traffic during the noon period near city schools and at unpatrolled times, with some scouts assigned to each intersection.
