A box supper at Cloudcroft on November 30 raised funds for school purposes. The Eckhursts lost their James Canyon home on Thanksgiving Eve. friends donated furniture and they moved into the Turner home. Mrs. George Dixon and Mrs. C A Redic, Cloudcroft teachers, visited Alamogordo on Saturday.

Delegations from Alamogordo and Tularosa traveled to Las Cruces last Saturday with others from El Paso Carrizoto Rincon and nearby towns to institute a new lodge. Alamogordo group included T A Frasier Chas E Thomas Ed Wayland W B Murrell C W Morgan S W Stout Jack Voyde and A J Newsom. About 40 from El Paso joined with three degree teams. The Las Cruces lodge revived after a former lodge disbanded years ago.

Mrs Frances X How ard dies after long illness in Alamogordo
Mrs Frances X Howard died Saturday at 3 45 pm after a long illness at her daughter’s home in Alamogordo. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 am at Geren and Leadinghous chapel conducted by Rev W M Cooper. She was 72, born in Patterson New Jersey. Her husband died two years ago. The couple lived in Grinnell Iowa before moving to San Marcial New Mexico and later to Alamogordo to live with their daughter Mrs LeBreton. A son W R Howard of San Marcial attended the funeral. another son works as a railroad engineer in Peru.

Obituary notes D C Jones longtime Fordham county rancher linked to Alamogordo and Highrolls property died December 1 in Halstead Kansas from stomach cancer. He left a wife son and daughter, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral held in Liberal December 4 with burial beside son Walter who died December 30 1919. The Jones family traced to Wales and origins near Mobectie.

Alamogordo High School defeated the town girls 22 to 21 in a fast, close game. The boys’ team beat Cloudcroft 26 to 9 with strong passing and sharp shooting. Basil Warnock visited El Paso. the science class toured the telephone office and heard talks from Mr. Newsom Mr. Kelly and Mr. Carr.

Mrs W M Miller of Alamogordo Dies After Long Illness
Mrs William M Miller died at her home in Alamogordo around 1:00 am Tuesday following a lengthy tuberculosis illness. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church with Rev Calvin A Duncan, the pastor, officiating. She was born February 22, 1880 in Idaville Tennessee and married in 1908. She leaves a husband three children Walter Beulah Oprah and three stepchildren. Burial was in the local cemetery.

Otero County Agricultural Census Under Way
The agricultural census is being conducted nationwide under the Department of Agriculture. Enumerators in Otero County include Mrs. Tom Charles for Alamogordo and nearby areas and G A Miller for the mountain district. Roy King of Weed handles the lower county. The 158 question schedule covers acres harvested, production, farm population, expenses, and cooperative buying and selling. Prof. R F Hare of Las Cruces is census supervisor for New Mexico.

Washington, Dec. 6. An agricultural appropriation bill carries eighty million dollars for road construction for the coming fiscal year, a rise of sixty one thousand dollars from last year. The bill totals 124,637,715 dollars, with 8,943,000 allocated for reclamation, and 80,000,900 for road work including four million for cooperative forest road and trail projects with states.
