The death occurred Monday at an El Paso hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Baird, 35, resided with her husband on a ranch forty miles west and south of Alamogordo. She is survived by her husband and James Leakow of Roswell.

Flagrant Assault Brings Arrest After Bus Encounter
A young Spanish American girl was assaulted near the southeast town near Ball Park after alighting a late bus. Officers Deputy Prather and Chief Markley tracked a suspect, a 15 year old looking boy, through a town search and the girl identified him. He led police to the torn garment, admitted the crime, and awaits legal action in jail.
