Wayne Phelps says renewal notices will mail tomorrow for the Otero County Community Concert Association. The September 27 to October 2 drive sets new memberships and reserves seating at the Ju nior high auditorium. School Enrollment Reaches Record High in Alamogordo
W Barnie Caton, superintendent of schools, reports 2909 students enrolled in Alamogordo public schools as of Monday with expectations of reaching 3000 by week’s end. High school has 565, junior high 420, elementary 1900 across Dudley Central North Indiana and Holloman campuses. 32 new high school teachers join the staff.

News to Move to New Plant This Weekend
The Alamogordo News will relocate this weekend to 901 Maryland in a new Morgan Printing Co building. Moving of mechanical equipment starts Friday, with Holloman Rocketeer printing shifted to Thursday night to accommodate the move. A front office and new desks will be added, and a pressroom and storage building are planned for later construction.

Holloman Officers Transfer to East Coast Posts
Two Holloman officers moved to permanent assignments on the east coast. Lt. Col. Harry F. Boone, commander of Holloman's 6580th Test Group, was reassigned to Maxwell Air Force Base Alabama after 17 months at Holloman. Lt. Col. Teuvo A Ahola, chief operations officer at Holloman, left for permanent duty at USAF Headquarters in the Pentagon Washington. Colonel Ahola served at Holloman for 52 months.

Cloudcroft Man Pleads Guilty Over Closed Season Pheasants
Justice of the Peace Lois Prather said L. L. Sparky Rogers of Cloudcroft pled guilty to killing three pheasants in a closed season on August 18. He paid a $100 fine and $5 court cost after charges filed by Dist. Game Warden Roy E. Owens.

Four Killed in Highway 54 Crash Near Texas New Mexico Line
Four people died after a collision on Highway 54 near the New Mexico Texas line. Antonio Moran 19 of Socorro died of injuries at William Beaumont Hospital El Paso. Victims were William Snow 32 El Paso attorney Myon S Prager 42 Roswell Rosalie Prager 46 also Roswell. The Prager car was en route to Fort Bliss while Montano drove a National Guard army truck pulled from a soft shoulder. The Prager car collided after being blinded by headlights from a northbound vehicle.

Construction and surfacing of 6.4 miles of Highway 83 from Cloudcroft to Mayhill is under way. John L. Parker of Mayhill reports Project 2796 is by Laudermilk Bros. of Espanola. Cost about 336,000 dollars with 8,386.45 paid for 18 right of way easements. The project will finish 19 miles of the highway between Alamogordo and Artesia.

Continental Air Lines Opens Alamogordo Inaugural Stop
Continental Air Lines begins its first scheduled stop in Alamogordo at 7:35 am tomorrow. Local civic leaders and Holloman AFB delegates will board for a Denver inaugural flight, with a ribbon cutting and welcoming ceremony at base building 280. The delegation sails from Alamogordo at 7:38 am and arrives in Albuquerque for a coffee and conference stop before continuing to Santa Fe.

Air Express Service will begin here on September 1 1954 as Continental Air Lines inaugurates regular scheduled air service. W L Day, Railway Express Agency agent, announced the new link in the Air Express System which covers over 1800 airport points and 111000 miles of airways. The service connects Alaska Canada Cuba and Hawaii and reaches Central and South America via connecting carriers. Many Alamogordo residents and business groups will receive first flight shipments when the service starts.
