Fair Entertainment Brings Two Day Horse Races at Alamogordo
Two days of horse racing linked to the Otero County Fair unfold at the Alamogordo track Saturday and Sunday September 14 and 15 starting at 2:00 p.m. Each day features four purse races plus matched events with purses for two year olds and for horses three years old and up. The two-year-olds race 300 yards on Saturday and a quarter mile on Sunday, with older horses racing 300 yards quarter mile and half mile in the free-for-all segments. Track rails and grandstand are being repaired ahead of the event.

The Methodist workers conference met at Dr and Mrs Robert Dickers home Monday night with Mrs Harold O Dell in charge. Miss Lillie Denney spoke on the church school and Miss Sarah Barber reported doubled enrollment after last year's goals. Promotion day is set for September 15 and Rally Day for September 22 with a 250 attendance goal. Seventeen officers and teachers attended and a copy of goals was to be given to each member.

Crystal Beverage Works Under New Management

Polio Attacks Young Children Across New Mexico
Santa Fe reports from the State Department of Public Health show 35 percent of polio cases this year involve children four and under. OPA Agents Trail Hot Car Dealers in Leesville
OPA investigators say they broke up a $75 million automobile black market in Leesville South Carolina they followed leads on sources who supplied the sales. They seized records for about 300 license plates including dealer tags after quietly arresting six men who bought five cars at about double the ceiling price.
