Labor Day Program Set With Parade and Talks

Grace Methodist Church to Honor Labor and Open New Auditorium
Franklin K. Poage will lead a Sunday 11 o'clock service honoring organized labor in the Grace Methodist Church auditorium. Marketing Group To Meet Thursday In Mountain Park
The Mountain Park and High Rolls area cooperative marketing association board will meet Thursday night at the school house to discuss policies for the coming season. A Farm Security Administration representative aided the group last Thursday, securing a loan of up to 6000 at 3 percent to build a packing shed and consider cold storage. Members plan a 1500 fundraising effort to boost operations as all fruit and produce will be sold through the shed to trucks, with possible later packing under a new New Mexico law and inspection of goods to raise prices.

Death Ends Illness Of Mrs Maxwell
Mrs G Q K Maxwell died Thursday in El Paso after a long illness. A Alamogordo resident for six years, she was married to a Southwest Lumber Co Planing Mill foreman. Remains go to McComb Mississippi for burial. Survived by husband G K Maxwell Jr of Louisiana and daughter Mrs Johnny Walker of Tucumcari.

Passing of Mrs Homer Stevens in Alamogordo
The death of Mrs Bessie Monc roe Stevens occurred Saturday August 23. Funeral services were held at the Geren Leadinghaus Mortuary with Rev Earl R Keating officiating. Interment followed at Mount Vista Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters Mrs Andy Henderson and Mrs Pinis Henderson, three granddaughters, her father one brother and six sisters. Born December 1889 in Shinglehouse Pennsylvania she wed Homer Stevens in Salamanca New York. The couple moved to Alamogordo from New York eighteen years ago. She was a longtime member of the local Baptist Church.
