Tragic Accidental Shooting Near Cloudcroft Claims J F Normand
The body of J Frank Normand twenty was found two miles from Cloudcroft after an afternoon shootout in the woods. A rabbit hunting pair of Mexican wood haulers reported the finding and a coroner's jury ruled the death accidental caused by a rifle bullet from the boys in the vicinity. Normand had studied at the University of Texas and was later assigned by Dr Long to work in the Sacramento Mountains. He was en route to the University of Illinois when the fatal shot occurred.

Ruidoso Rodeo Caps Ten Day Celebration
The Ruidoso Rodeo and Western Days Celebration ended a ten day program with large crowds despite two or three rainy days. Lincoln County Day featured Queen Opal Winghelm crowned in the auditorium as Hon. George Curry delivered a speech. The parade to the rodeo grounds drew over two hundred cars and many from distant places. The event impressed the Chamber of Commerce and local communities with its orderly conduct and varied entertainment.

Lioness killed after seven hour hunt in Jornada range
A nine foot lioness weighing 102 pounds was killed near St. Nicolas canyon in the Jornada range reserve after a day and a half of chasing by a hunting party from Walton ranch. The group included Al G Field and Jim Arnold, Jesse Isaacks, and others. the dogs eventually forced the lioness from cover and Jim Cox shot the cat.

Norwegian team finds Andree expedition remains near Spitzbergen
A Norwegian scientific expedition led by Dr S Horn found the preserved bodies of Salomon August Andree and his companions on White Island east of Spitzbergen. Auto crash north of Alamogordo kills 19 year old
Oliver Owens aged 19 died Friday morning two miles north of Alamogordo after a Chevrolet caravan and a Buick collided. Nine in the Chevrolet with a trailer and four in the Ford coupe were involved. Owens stood on the running board inside the car moments before death. Other occupants sustained minor injuries. The body was taken to Geren & Leadinghouse Mortuary and interment followed in the local cemetery. The Hughes family, nearly penniless, received community aid totaling 44 dollars from local residents.
