Nelda Phillips a 16 year old from High Rolls was struck by a car driven by Orla Scott at the intersection of the school road and the highway She and Shelia Carpenter walked in the center of the road and fled as the car approached witnesses Bob Beasley Odell Millhouse and Nick Cuellar said Scott traveled about 35 miles an hour and survived with a fractured pelvis and deep scalp lacerations She is hospitalized in Alamogordo Captain Al Hathaway investigated the incident.

Fifty Demos Attend County Convention in Otero
Fifty delegates from Otero County precincts attended the Democratic County Convention at the courthouse last Saturday and named 44 delegates with one half vote each to the State convention in Albuquerque. The County Democratic Central Committee chose Frances Godley as chairwoman and L. H. Hightower as fund secretary aiding Dale Scott. A large Alamogordo delegation planned to attend the state convention later, carrying proxies. The delegates were placed under unit rule for the state convention.

In El Paso last weekend El Paso Natural Gas Co. said no line to Tularosa is planned. To receive gas the village would need its own 12 mile line to Alamogordo and raise bonds for about fifty thousand dollars. Will T. Coe born June 16 1887 served as state representative from 1944 until his death. He died August 11 in Roswell and was buried August 12 at the Glencoe ranch family cemetery. Survived by widow Bebe Coe a sister Mayme Coe Perry nine children and thirteen grandchildren.

Long Time Alamogordo Resident Wallace Patterson Buried
Funeral services were held Sunday in Alamogordo for Wallace Patterson who died August 13 in Flagstaff Arizona. Born 1891 in Baton Rouge Louisiana, he lived in Alamogordo from 1928 until a recent Arizona visit. Survived by wife Annie Patterson of Alamogordo, mother, two brothers, sister in Louisiana, son and daughter in Louisiana, an adopted son and daughter of Alamogordo, plus other relatives. Mullins-O'Dell handled remains shipped from Flagstaff.
