PLAN NEW QUAIL REFUGE IN OTERO COUNTY
State game warden Elliott S. Barker discussed with local game protection officials a proposed quail refuge in Otero County. The existing refuge west of Alamo Canyon lacks feed, while a 6 section tract on Gilbert Langford’s ranch south of there is proposed as a new preserve between the foothills and railroad, near Grapevine Canyon road. Store in Ruidoso Closed Over Tax Dispute
State sales tax director G S Carter announced the J Y Branham store in Ruidoso was closed on a distraint warrant for more than 5000 in sales taxes. An audit found alleged erroneous reports spanning three years while Branham operated at Ruidoso Clovis Roswell and Portales. Branham was given opportunity to arrange payment, Carter said.
