Oil Work Extends 28 Miles South of Valmont on 366
The New Mexico highway department began oiling a 28 mile stretch south of Valmont toward the north end of Federal Aid Project 106 A. The section between Tularosa and El Paso carries the state’s highest traffic, and 24 miles of oiling plus 10 miles of new highway at Orogande will attract more traffic to Route 366. A 20 mile oiling south of Alamogordo uses 50 car loads of hot mixed New Mexico oil spread on gravel and sand base to permeate and seal the surface.

Funeral services in memory of Johnny Lafferty were held Monday at the Geren Leadinghouse Chapel. Rev Barl ik Keating led the service with a quartet performing, followed by a procession to the cemetery. Lafferty, born May 2 1911 at the lock ranch Lincoln county, grew up in Alamogordo and worked at local businesses.
