Descendants of Otero county pioneer Mrs. Sarah Walker gathered at her ranch in 16 Springs canyon to mark a reunion and celebrate her 95th birthday. Last Story Hour to Be Held Saturday at City Library
The city library hosts its final summer story hour Saturday Aug 21 at 10 a.m. Mrs Phyllis Dietrichson announces plans to feature Wizard of Oz and Bambi with eighteen children attending summer sessions. Sue Norton Returns From Bermuda Trip
Sue Norton a first grade teacher at Indiana Ave school completed a six week vacation that included two weeks in Bermuda with her sister Dorothy Norton and friend Ruth Biddison of Baltimore. They stayed at Elbow Beach Surf club, toured the islands and sailed there and back on the Queen of Bermuda. After Bermuda she visited Baltimore a week, then spent a week in Houston with relatives.

Martha Class Aug Meeting At Hancock Residence

The first Land-Air Inc White Sands Holloman division family picnic drew over 300 attendees Saturday at Cox Canyon. Participants enjoyed softball, horseshoes, volleyball, and horseback riding. Children competed in bubble blowing and foot races while a picnic lunch of hot dogs tuna potato salad baked beans coffee and iced drinks was served under pines. The division plans another similar event soon.

VFEW Auxiliary Bake Sale Planned at Food Mart
VFEW Auxiliary will hold a bake sale at Food Mart on August 28 under Lettie Thompson. The group met to plan the event and also announced a benefit dance for September 2 at the Jet Lounge with tickets priced at one dollar for men and free for ladies. The next regular meeting is set for September 6 at the Jet Lounge.
