Private First Class Alfred G. Nunez of Alamogordo New Mexico braved fire to carry a wounded buddy to a field aid station on Saipan. The note says he aided a wounded comrade despite danger and fatigue and that Nunez was later wounded and hospitalized.
Private Hosetosavit 25 Mescalero Apache was killed in combat in France on July 30 while serving since August 1942. Survived by wife Maria and son Kimer Kay, and his mother Mrs Ho Chihuahua of Mescalero.

Ward Com of Mountain Park presented a gift to Mr G E B Miller secretary when founded 1914. W A Reeves president since 1915 was re elected. J N Ogle Mountain Park elected vice president. The convention plans to meet again the second Sunday in December at Mountain Park.

Fred Warren McDonald, gunner's mate third class USNR of Weed New Mexico, has returned to the Armed Guard Center at New Orleans after eight months at sea. He was sworn in January 20 1942 and trained at San Diego. McDonald is the son of Mr and Mrs S D McDonald and a Goodlette Texas high school graduate who did farm and ranch work before joining the Navy.
The Alamogordo school system completed its faculty for the coming year with one vacancy for a boys physical education and athletics director due to housing shortages. New teachers include Mrs. Goldin and Mrs. Doheny, with Mr. Townsend combining duties at the Deming school and local Air Base. Marine Private Sherman Sundayman son of Mr and Mrs Glenn H Sundayman of Mescalero New Mexico has graduated from the Infantry and Browning Automatic Rifle Section School at Camp Pendleton Oceanside California He completed training with the B A R M 1 Garand and Carbine rifles grenades bayonet and jungle warfare tactics He enlisted in the Marine Corps June 21 at El Paso Texas and will join an infantry battalion.
Dr and Mrs Fred B Evans received a letter this week from their son Labre Hivans Jr now in a Japanese prison camp in Japan. The letter bore the date December 19 1943 and above his nickname Fred he signed as Fred which gave the parents joy though much of the letter appeared ruined and not written in his usual restrained form.
