James Robert Gililland known as Jim Gililland, longtime rancher and frontier figure, dies August 8 1946 at Hot Springs New Mexico after years of illness Born March 22 1874 in Brown County Texas he spent his life in the Sacramento Mountains and White Sands region He faced the Fountain and sow murders case with Oliver Lee in 1896 and later settled at Hot Springs with his wife Adella Gould Gililland operated the Jim Gililland ranch in Socorro and San Andreas Mountains for 37 years a Peace Officer and U S Grazing Service adviser he was active in Masons and Odd Fellows and is survived by his wife sisters and brothers Funeral services held at Geren Leadinghaus Chapel and burial at Tularosa cemetery with Masonic rites

Conditions Set For Airport Lease
The Town Board of Trustees set a rental of 1.00 per year for the municipal airport north of town. The Alamogordo Flying Service will be offered the lease, operating there for about a year under the new plan. Irrigation Exhibit Planned for New Mexico State Fair

Site Selected for Radio Station by Town Board
The Town Board accepted a 500 offer from Inter-Mountain Broadcasting of Albuquerque for about 4.4 acres from the Kempner Addition to host a transmission station and towers. Elmer L Harrell 21 electrician’s mate first class of Alamogordo was discharged August 10 at the Personnel Separation Center after 23 months in the European theatre. He entered service January 1943 and saw the Normandy invasion and shuttle runs England France. He returned September 1945 and later served at Green Cove Springs Florida. He holds four ribbons European African with one battle star American Theatre Victory and Good Conduct. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Mack B Harrell of 912 Texas Ave.

Stanley G Calische Dies In Highway Crash Near Alamogordo
A collision near the La Luz junction on the La Luz highway and high ways 70 54 killed Stanley G Calische of El Paso. His friend Charles A Levi of Dallas survived with non fatal injuries. Coroner's inquest found no blame. Calische had recently moved from Montoya New Mexico to El Paso. He leaves a son Charles of Dallas and Hallie Belle of El Paso. The body was taken to El Paso for services and burial.
