State, county, and municipal officers investigate a Monday night burglary at Hendrix Motor Co. A night arrival, Eber Mc Kinley, found a moved safe and open window with a man fleeing. Tools linked to another garage were recovered and questioned. Clinton (Shorty) Davis was also questioned but gave his alibi.
Sunday shooters from Alamogordo traveled to Juarez to face Tiradores del Norte in a 40 shot course at 200 300 and 500 meters. Top Alamogordo scores were M. D. Huddleston 172 and Joe Sadow sky 165. A return match is planned for Alamogordo on September 1.
Senator Louise Coe and Mrs H B Wright met Alamogordo club to finalize plans for the Fourth District Federation convention on October 18 and 19 with Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself as the theme and God Bless America as the song. A chuck wagon supper at White Sands will feature open range songs around the campfire. The district includes clubs from Glencoe Mescalero Ruidoso Tularosa Alamogordo Hot Springs Las Cruces Anthony Canutillo Lordsburg and Silver City. District officers include Mrs Coe president and Mrs J H Amy Silver City vice president.
The New Mexico Press Association will meet in Clovis August 16 and 17 with a social program including a Friday banquet with Governor John E. Miles as guest and a tea for Mrs. Miles. A Saturday luncheon hosted by the governor at Hotel Clovis is described as a knockout event.

Frank Strickland a pioneer cattleman of the Pecos and Penasco Valleys died at his Roswell home on August 6 at nearly 69. He came to New Mexico in 1890, settled near Elk, Texas born. He leaves five sons and his widow Georgia Reeves Strickland. Funeral and burial took place in Roswell.
Miss Maude Bunnell was elected to the Associated Charities board to succeed the late Mrs. Snover. Clothing donations are welcomed to aid school preparations and may be left at 918 Texas Avenue. The Associated Chambers of Commerce of the Southwest met at Ruidoso to unite 60 towns across a region from Chihuahua to Midland Texas to boost tourism and attract new residents. Alamogordo representatives included Hendrix Tom Charles L A A L Dunn and Loggains with Moore. Hendrix named vice president. Dudley Yard of Pecos elected president with Bloodworth of El Paso serving as secretary.
In regular session the Alamogordo Town Board accepted the resignation of Town Marshal Felix Hunter who moves to a night engineer role at the School for the Blind. J J Markley was appointed to replace him after unanimous board approval. The meeting also discussed a proposed fall rodeo and reviewed milk sale ordinances with state officials to curb bootlegging.
Notices warn all aliens in residence in Otero County must register under a new federal law.
