A. H. Hudspeth and N. B. Laughlin announce the Democratic state convention will meet in Albuquerque on September ninth to nominate a U.S. representative and elect three presidential electors. Precinct primaries are on August 24 with county conventions August 31. two county delegates join the state central committee for two years.
J H Wallace in charge of the Chinese department of the immigration service in this city is transferred to Key West Florida. He has served five years here coming from Jonesboro Georgia and will leave for the new post on the 21st of this month.
Chas E. Mitchell arrives Tuesday evening from El Paso in a Pathfinder five passenger forty horsepower touring car. He compares the new Pathfinder favorably with his Maxwell and says the new car is a great improvement. August 18 services at 6 30 a m and 7 30 p m will present sermons titled The Glory of God and Christ's Favorites with a call to bring Bibles to learn to use The Sword of the Spirit by A Armstrong.
Dr. Alonzo Bright superintendent of the Spanish English Mission Conference will occupy the pulpit at Grace M F Church Sunday morning and evening. The public is invited. Miss Vida Sutherland Miss Nina Scipio and Dean Sherry went to Cloudcroft Wednesday. Sutherland and Scipio have rented a cottage for the season. Miss Sadie Scipio plans a visit Saturday.
Postmaster General Hitchock release shows 2 680 New Mexico depositors sought the third postal savings bond issue on July 1. Most applications are for registered bonds, with Albuquerque leading at 1 000 and Carlsbad 900. Total deposits across cities listed.
The Teachers Institute will begin Monday in Cloudcroft with preparations complete. Educators from area schools are expected to gather for sessions, demonstrations, and collaborative planning in the mountain town.
The Otero County Teachers Institute in Cloudcroft starts August 19 with teachers from neighboring counties. Noted educators Dr. Frank H. Roberts, Dr. David R. Boyd, Dr. C. M. Light, and Alvan N. White will lecture, with dates to be announced. White appears in the second week, and an informal reception is planned for August 19. Local residents Mrs. J. L. Johnson and Miss Nettie Johnson visited, joined by Mr. and Mrs. Rogers from Memphis who continued to High Rolls for the summer.
Congressman Fergusson presses for a federal court to be held in Albuquerque with a second judge. His bill sets court terms in Albuquerque Las Cruces Alamagordo Roswell and names a southern district covering 15 counties with juries and trials held locally. Albuquerque Herald.
The Republican state convention will meet at the Elks Theatre in Albuquerque on September 12 to nominate a congressional candidate and elect three presidential electors. The call, authorized at the Santa Fe meeting, sets county conventions by September 7 and names Wenceslao Jara millo as chairman and Herbert W. Clark as secretary. United States Senator Thomas Bl. Catron will deliver the keynote. Dates for precinct primaries and Otero county convention are not yet learned.
