La Luz Youths Held for Larceny of a Cow
A ranchman reported a fat cow missing and suspected theft. Deputies, acting on a search warrant by Utter, found fresh hide and meat at the Torres Ranch. Gregoria and Jian Torres, 16, were arrested, jailed, and held to the grand jury in $750 each. the elder released on bonds, the younger still confined. They are sons of the late Gregorio Torres, a respected La Luz pioneer.

Two Funerals For Small Children Last Saturday
The three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nias Green died at home in Cloudcroft. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, then burial in the local cemetery. The baby of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde White died at Rousseau hospital in Alamogordo and was buried in the local cemetery. Both babies fell ill with the same bowel trouble.

Inquest Clears Escondido Parents in Baby's Death
An inquest at Justice of the Peace Startup's office examined the death of a one year old infant of Mr and Mrs Jose Teran. Testimony from the parents and a third witness found no blame on the couple. The baby allegedly fell from a bed about two feet to a cement floor causing a neck dislocation and instant death. The father works for the Southwestern section crew in Escondido.
