Orange Hosts Picnic After Rain Favors Grass Growers
Reports from the Helms ranch five miles north say the adobe ranch house melted due to high water. The July 23 and 24 Orange picnic drew a large crowd with two beeves and four muttons barbecued. Winners in the tournament included S C Ruch first, Dick Brown field second, John Stephens third, and Thus Jones won the sweepstake horse race. Wayne Crowder and Mrs passed through Orange en route to a Texas ranch near Joe Helms. J W Brownfield and daughter visited Alamogordo after the picnic. Martin Lewis visited en route to W B Lewis' ranch to sink his first 1400 foot well.

Jolly Contract Cancelled for High School Building
The school board canceled Joe Jolly's bid for the high school due to lack of bond application. A new bidding process will be opened after August 16 with plans reduced to 11 000 dollars while keeping the same number of rooms as planned.

The El Paso and Southwestern Railway Co. will build a new hotel at Cloudcroft to replace the Lodge.
