Bert Bonnell a 76 year old Glencoe resident escaped serious injuries when his car struck a bridge at Hondo Saturday. His wife and a 12 year old girl related to them were with him and suffered lacerations as the car was demolished.

Accident Fatal To Ft. Bliss Man
A head on collision on Highway 70 near Green Tree New Mexico resulted in the death of Fort Bliss soldier Pfc. Joseph Drexler 24 of Sharpsburg Pennsylvania. Drexler driving west crossed into the opposite lane and struck an empty cattle truck driven by Marvin V. Crowe of Clovis. Drexler died at 135 p m after being taken to Ruidoso hospital. Crowe was uninjured. Patrolmen Don Hammond and Herbert Douglas of the New Mexico State Police investigated.

The Hendrix McKinley Motor Co. bid for a Ford four door sedan at 1589 for police use and a two and a half ton Pack-Master truck at 2847. Baxley Motor Co. bid 1600 for a Pontiac four door sedan. No trade ins were offered. The present police car goes to the Town Manager and the new unit adds to the garbage department.

New Hearing Granted on Grocery Site Proposal
At a special meeting the Town Board of Trustees voted to reopen for hearing the J. Overton grocery site petition on Lot 4 Block 89 at Florida and 16th St in a single family zone. A four member zoning panel previously recommended approval but a 17 name petition opposed the Overton plan alleging zoning procedure flaws. No date is set for the re hearing. Overton holds an option on the Ward property.

A Holloman Public Information release states Boeing will hire several thousand more workers at plants in Seattle and Renton Washington and Wichita Kansas. President William M.
