E C Wade reports a favorable ruling from the general land office on claims by the Blazer estate against the government under the small holdings act. The land lies within the Mescalero reserve after the Mescalero Indian reserve was established. Four claims exist: the Mrs Blazer estate the Ledges estate Almer N Blazer and Jose de Gutierrez.
Testimony taken at Alamo Gordo last June yields a favorable decision on the first two claims and an unfavorable one on the latter two. An appeal will be filed to the secretary of the interior by the litigants through Wade and Llewellyn. The Col ored Plantation Comedy company entertained Alamo Gordo guards Thursday night despite bad weather, raising funds for the militia treasury.
An order issued yesterday authorizes daily mail service on the El Paso and Northeastern railroad between El Paso and Capitan New Mexico effective July 31. Ezekiel J. Fowler and Herbiet H. Hart are appointed clerks in postal class one for six months. Mail will be received in the car and processed between stations with a $240 yearly government salary.
The Texas & Pacific and G H S A lines along with state branches announce a $15 round trip rate from all Texas points to Cloudcroft. Sales occur August 1y and 18 and September 14 and 15 with a thirty day return limit. General Passenger Agents Parks and Turner, aided by White Oaks officials, cite recent Alamogordo Cloudcroft excursions as influence. The plan aims to boost next season’s excursion traffic.
The White Oaks Route laid seven miles of new 60 pound steel rails between mile posts 1S and 25 on the main line. Capitan to Gray track will be completed soon, marking near completion of track laying before work on the Liberal extension begins. The road will open a premium city ticket office in El Paso once the Sheldon block is finished.

Heavy rains washed out about 150 feet of track between mile posts 49 and 50 on the E P N E railway. The wrecking train repaired the line by Friday, allowing southbound No. 2 to pass safely while No. 1 arrived 1 hour 20 minutes late. The Jarilla branch was also damaged but fully repaired.
The Emmett Guards Company C announces new non commissioned officers led by S. A. Wallace as first sergeant and W. P. Johnson as quarter master sergeant. Robert Dishl Otto Richter Charles Roberts and F. M. Bowman named sergeants with C. G. Nuckols William Wright Roy Hammond and J. J. Brick as corporals. Lee Woods named bugler and J. D. Hall artificer.
J F Manning of Tak News reports Cloudcroft residents expect a larger town than Alamogordo next year. Wealthy buyers from El Paso and Texas cities build cottages costing 400 to 500 dollars and plan summer residences. A hotel is seen as crucial, with railways pushing for summer traffic and lot sales driving a building rush.
