Mr and Mrs Pegues of Baton Rouge arrived in Sacramento to spend weeks at their cabin but were delayed by the illness of Mr Pegues sister. Mrs Lewis battled a house fire caused by lightning while her husband was away. Social events include a Ladies' Chair gathering at Mrs Munson's with a large crowd and dinner. Various visits and trips are noted among local residents and friends.
Alamogordo Lodge No. 25 I O O F members aided the July 31 installation of a new Lodge No. 7 in Deming. Grand Master Dr. B A Grissom of New Mexico led the ceremony with other Grand Lodge officers assisting. Local members listed as assisting with degrees include Forest A Daugherty and peers.
Frank Phillips son of Mr and Mrs Frank Phillips of 714 Virginia Avenue Alamogordo has completed recruit training at the U S Naval Training Center San Diego California with Company 169 He entered Naval service May 23 1945 at FE Paso Texas and attended Tularosa and Alamogordo schools During training he played Track Basketball and Volleyball
Newly organized Local 1031 of the National Federation of Federal Employees elected Franklin E. Buxton as president for the coming year. Elected as vice presidents were Edison Tes Felix C. Gomez Raymond A. Lambert Allen Atash Hubert Haerrington. Christine Duran was secretary treasurer and Bertha G. Garcia corresponding secretary. Eight board members named were Dan Thomas Frances Abbey Gertrude Enyder N. J. Tibbetts Lee Berkhemer Earl Schain C S Bagley Charles McCulloch. Dolores Evans was chosen Guide and Bil Sheppard Guardian. Meeting followed by refreshments. Nearby visit report from Clovis notes Mr and Mrs Claud Young spent past week with Mrs Young's mother Mrs Bods Davis of Alamogordo visiting Bil Davis family at Old Maroa.
Mr and Mrs Vernie Jordan have moved to their newly constructed residence on Hawaii Avenue marking a recent home occupancy in the neighborhood.

Also July 30 James D Wall of Green Tree New Mexico and Mary Elizabeth Singleton wed by license. July 31 Harry Gifford Irby of El Paso weds Jacqueline Maxine Roby with Rev Jesse F Watson. July 31 Thomas C Hancock of Lubbock weds Mary Louise Vaughn by license. July 31 Roy D Horsley of Las Cruces weds Virginia M Robinson with Rev Jesse F Wiatson.
Foster Extine admitted for asthma treatment. Births include a July 31 baby girl to Mr. and Mrs. McDaniel by C section, a July 31 girl to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Najega, an August 2 boy to Mr. and Mrs. H A McNeal, and an August 3 girl to Mr. and Mrs. C P Chat ham. Miss Mary Baucham of Orton Texas treated after auto accident returning from Cloudcroft.
In 1938 the White Sands Theatre marks its first anniversary with Miss Jane Clayton appearing August 10. Local notes include Max Lane at Dunn ranch, a birthday party for Nancy Simms, a July 31 marriage of Dorothy Wood and J. D. Miller, and a July 22 birth to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kiepfer.
Preliminary plans by a man named McKee to open a bank at Tularosa around September are announced. J. P. Lewis travels from Weed to Alamogordo. Judge A B Fall visits Alamogordo. W D Buck's son J H Tweed born July 29. Alamogordo Improvement Co ships Elberta peaches. Miss Jessie F Monaghan and William K Stalcup wed August 5. Palmer buys a new Reo 20 hp touring car. fastest El Paso to Alamogordo drive recorded.
Bartlett Clinic reports R. E. Bothe of Weed treated for a cut foot. Y. R. Garcia injured his ankle at work Tuesday. A son, Robert David, born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Davis at Hughes Maternity Home on August 3. A son, Leonard Fay Jr., born to Sgt. and Mrs. Leonard Fay Brown on August 2. Baby premature and sent to William Beaumont Hospital for care.
The Women's Society of Christian Service at Grace Methodist Church will meet in the sanctuary Thursday evening August 5 at 7 30 rather than in the usual afternoon slot.
A large gathering of square dancers hosted by Mr and Mrs Ray Daniel and Mr and Mrs Geo Bonal enjoyed a chuck wagon supper at the Daniels home on a Saturday night. Attendees from Las Cruces Mesilla Park and Houston joined the festive crowd for food and socializing.
Miss Joann Starley entertained Mr. and Mrs. Gan Murphy Mrs. Frances Hullinger and Mr. Curry Wilson at the Plaza Cafe last Monday evening. Hullinger and Wilson recently moved from Bradinton Florida to live with the Murphys. Hullinger has joined Holloman Air Force Base in the legal department. The group later danced at the Red Barn with Las Cruces dancers.
On Wednesday at their Ohio Avenue home a dancing party honored guest Frances Rolland and daughter Helen with twenty three young people in attendance. Friday afternoon Mr and Mrs John Rolland hosted a picture show party for guest Clifford Rolland and friends followed by a hamburger supper at the Rolland residence.
