Thygesen and Llewellyn contractors on the Alamogordo Cloudcroft road project will begin dirt work this week. About 200 men will be employed at the peak over 18 months, with local labor favored and wages at least 76 cents an hour. The plan calls for surfacing with borrow pit material and no black topping at first, as a broader five year program aims to connect the new road with Highways 54 and 70 near Alamogordo and Tularosa.

Neponuceno Brusuelas aged 57 died at his home in Tularosa on Saturday July 27. He is survived by his widow Juanita of California and five sons Neponuceno Jr Ernest Raymond Daniel and Louis and four daughters Delphina Nina Nora and Toyota. Son Mike was killed in action in the war. Also two brothers Jose and Leno Brusuelas of Tularosa. Neponuceno Jr arrived from San Francisco for services. Funeral held Alamogordo Memorial Chapel burial in Tularosa Cemetery Monday morning.

Mrs Edna K Stillwell of Alamogordo received medals and ribbons awarded posthumously to Corporal Walter W Stillwell who died in a July 9 1945 army bus crash in San Bernardino California while recovering from war injuries. The award set includes the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster and other service ribbons. his battalion earned a Presidential Citation for the Normandy invasion.

Thunderbirds Club Formed By Local Flyers
The Thunderbird Flyers club organized by Alamogordo Flying Service sponsors John Collins and Bill Speight with Kenneth Garland as president and John L. Wilson as secretary. John Thomas Kimmons 74 died at his home on Utah avenue after a lingering illness. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Eual F. Lawson at the Memorial Chapel. He is survived by his widow, a son B.E. Kimmons of Alamogordo, a daughter Mrs. Nora Crawford of Los Angeles, four grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters. The Kimmons came to New Mexico from Eldorado Texas in 1906 and lived on a Corona area ranch for 36 years.
