Mr and Mrs Gottlieb found an aged, feebly signaled man in the desert near Alamogordo while driving to Las Cruces. He claimed to be from Los Angeles and cooking a pancake with little food or water. He declined shelter and provisions, saying no one cared and wandered eastward, remaining a desert mystery.
Business leaders back four day event under Cadmean Bureau payment of 50 cents adults and half price for children. First day evening program only with two programs daily otherwise. Schedule includes Shumate Saxophone Quartet Avalon Players Marine Maids Tolbert lecture and a kiddies circus with Miriam Franklin Players.
Las Cruces New Mexico April 6 a cotton oil mill costing 150000 will be built west of the depot by White Brothers and associates of Hillsboro Tennessee after land purchase closed work on the project will start in three weeks The plant will operate as an independent firm with a payroll of 5000 to 20000 weekly and will include a spur track and control of adjacent trackage The deal was arranged through M Co O’Hara Sons Las Cruces real estate firm and leaders here have pushed for the project to aid cattlemen by reducing seed movement costs from other cities
Mrs. R. W. Cooper died last Friday at her Park Avenue home after a five hour illness. She suffered a stroke about 6 PM and died about 9:30 PM. Funeral services were held Sunday at 9:30 AM at Geren Leadinghous chapel with Rev. W. M. Cooper, burial in the local cemetery. Born in 1863 in Stockton Alabama she married in 1901 and lived in Alamogordo except for brief health related stays. She was devoted to her husband and well regarded by neighbors. She was an aunt of W. D. Bryars county clerk.

Roswell News reports plans for deep tests this summer on Manning and Duncan Domes in Chaves county New Mexico. Multiple oil companies own acreage and shipments for drilling equipment are underway with wells starting 20 inch holes at Sec 14 T15S R17E and Sec 29 T17S R18E. Geologists predict potentially large production from the Pennsylvania sands beneath the Magdalena formation in the Sacramento area.
Morris Robertson of Alamogordo New Mexico won second prize in a nationwide boys drawing contest. A judging panel of Bud Fisher R W Satterfield and John Kennedy praised his work Old Pop noting his talent. Over 3000 submissions were received from across the country.
The Cloudcroft train leaving Alamogordo around 7 00 am derailed about 14 miles above La Luz station after the front truck on the engine broke. Engineer A E Phillips suffered a broken shoulder while other crew members escaped with minor bruises and shocks. The caboose was used to rush the injured engineer to town and a wrecking crane will be required to clear the track.
On March 17 1925 President Coolidge signed an order consolidating the Roswell New Mexico land office with the Las Cruces office. All Roswell business and records were transferred to Las Cruces and the change took effect April 30 1925.
Dr Hugo Eckner told the London Aeronautical Society that future passenger airship travels could charge about one pound sterling per pound of body weight. He estimated a three-zeppelin Atlantic crossing would cost around ten thousand pounds with revenue over sixteen thousand pounds from 25 to 30 passengers plus mail and baggage, promising profit as safety improves.
Jack Thrower was released from custody after a hearing before U S Commissioner A F Menger in Desert. John Flennikin pleaded guilty and faces federal sentencing in Santa Fe for liquor possession and transportation. A state charge of carrying arms while transporting liquor may also be pursued by the district attorney.
A Union Prayer Meeting is planned for Easter morning at 5:30 a.m. Meeting point is the Methodist Church, then a program east of the Sanitarium with songs, scripture by Rev. W. C. Taggart, prayers by Miss Flo May Johnson and Rev. Calvin A. Duncan, a benediction by Rev. Ed Le Breton, and song leadership by A. F. Meiger. Cars provided. buses depart 5:35 a.m. Committee invites all to attend.
W W Hayward of The State Bank of Alamogordo leaves last night on a business trip to Colorado. Deputy U S Marshal Lee Wilkerson and his daughter visit from their Deming home on Wednesday.
The Manning Dome spans about 1200 feet with two major firms, Arkansas Fuel Company holding roughly 28 000 acres and The Ohio Oil Company about 4800 acres. Both parcels were acquired from Capt. W. H. McCullough of Roswell, and several other large companies are negotiating for Dome acreage.
Albuquerque April 7 Former U S Senator Bursum on return from Washington says New Mexico could become the next big oil producing state as oil development attracts attention. He planned a stay in Socorro to handle private matters and said his contest for the Bruton seat would be pressed.
Miss Emma Tracy and William C. Murray of El Paso were married in Alamogordo by Reverend W. C. Taggart on April 4. The couple reportedly took steps to keep the marriage quiet.
The Tularosa Chautauqua runs April 13 through 16 featuring several promising programs. Alamogordo residents may find multiple events worth attending as part of the regional series.
Kathryn Farrar and her Harmony Five perform at the Pavilion Tuesday night for a real dance music event. The orchestra recently played the Agricultural College barn dance and Colon Theatre in El Paso with return bookings in Silver City area, and has toured Salt Lake City Spokane Seattle and vaudeville circuits on a summer tour.
Alamogordo Rotary Club approved an annual fathers and sons banquet likely for the last week of April in the High School hall. Domestic Science girls from Alamogordo High School will serve the meal. Dr E D McKinley and R R Rodgers are arranging the event.
An Easter Cantata titled The Thorn Crowned King will be sung by the Presbyterian choir under Mr. R G Herron on Sunday night April 12 at 7 30. The program follows the story from the Crucifixion to the Resurrection with solos duets trios and choruses. The church invites all to attend this special service with performers listed and accompanists Fidelia Duncan and Jack Voyde.

Officials release them on their own recognizance pending court for possession and transportation of liquor. The mayor and a road man from the highway department are named. News from Alamogordo denied by El Paso and Albuquerque papers.
The Women's Club of Alamogordo will hold a regular meeting Friday afternoon in the Club rooms. The program will be titled Art with Mrs. Nathan Snyder leading the session and Mesdames J. R. Dowdle, R. Wilford, W. E. Warren, and A. N. Graham as hostesses.

About 200 residents attended a court house meeting as candidates were named for Alamogordo board of education. Six nominees included Dr. F. B. Evans A. A. McNatt A. F. Menger Mrs G F Rousseau G P Robertson and Mrs Strickland with four seats contested.
John A Haley of Carrizozo qualified today as secretary of the New Mexico state tax commission. Haley is a Carrizozo newspaper man and widely known across the state. Gates Tires and Tubes Ed Mar rington.
Tularosa held a school election Tuesday electing Mrs. Ed. M. Sanders, J. T. Baldonado, and Dr. J. D. Robinson to the new school board.
